Here are our best bets for the League 2 games on Friday night.

Colchester United v Grimsby Town

Colchester host Grimsby on Friday after a rare defeat at Bradford at the weekend. That was Colchester 2nd defeat in 2025 and their first defeat in 14 league games.

PREVIEW: Colchester v Grimsby

They will face a Grimsby side who are currently better on the road than at home. 2 defeats in 3 at home for Grimsby, no defeats in 4 on the road with 3 wins, including a win at the leaders, Walsall.

This makes this a very tough game to call. How many times do you see a side go for a long time without a defeat then suddenly lose 3 in 4 games?

Grimsby are no pushovers and are currently 1 point and 1 place better in the league than Colchester. At 29/10, the away side are a play but we're backing the draw at 9/4 at bet365

Tranmere Rovers v Cheltenham Town

Tranmere are at home to Cheltenham and if they win, and results go their way, come Monday they could be 9 points clear of the bottom 2.

PREVIEW: Tranmere v Cheltenham

Since bidding farewell to Nigel Adkins, Tranmere have remained unbeaten with 3 draws and 2 wins. We backed them last time to get a result at Fleetwood which they did with a 0-0 draw.

Cheltenham have suffered 2 straight defeats at home but away from home they have suffered 2 defeats in 6 games, and 3 defeats in 10. Cheltenham have also failed to score in their last 2 home games but have scored 5 goals in their last 2 away games. Their away from is solid.

Tranmere are favs to win this at 21/20 which is too skinny. Cheltenham are 29/10 to win which is a far more tempting price but we're tipping the draw, 12/5 at bet365.

Enjoy the football, good luck with your bets and please gamble responsibly.
