The best Championship football bets for 10 August

Hull City v Bristol City

Hull were close to the playoffs last season but they've lost players and not completely replaced them, I don't think. Bristol City, they've got exciting chances this time around.

Both sides start the season with very similar expectations of creeping into the playoffs, but I do fancy Bristol City to win this one. They're 2/1 to win on Saturday afternoon, but I'm playing that as a single and not including it in my acca.

I've got three other picks here to make up a treble.

Millwall v Watford

I fancy Millwall to beat Watford. Two mid-table teams last season, but Neil Harris had Millwall playing some good football towards the end. They've got Nisbet and Bradshaw and with Macaulay Langstaff added to their squad, it gives them real strength in attack. I'm also not convinced by Watford this term. So, Millwall for me, at 11/8.

Middlesbrough v Swansea

I think Michael Carrick has got Boro playing good football and I fancy them to do well this season. They're taking on Swansea and with Emmanuel Latte Lath up front, they've got one of the best scorers in the Championship. I think Swansea struggle this season and Boro, notoriously slow starters (that's a little bit of a caveat), can take the three points. They're 10/11 to do exactly that against Swansea.

Leeds Utd v Portsmouth

And finally, Leeds United. Their home form was excellent last season, 90 points, missed out in the playoff final, etc. They're taking on promoted Portsmouth, who could not get a tougher start in going to Elland Road, which was a fortress for Leeds United last season. It remains to be seen whether Leeds will have recruited Jonathan Rowe from Norwich in time to replace Crycensio Summerville, but regardless, Leeds will have some strength in attack and I think there are goals in this match.

  • If you just put in Leeds to win, they're 7/20, that will take the Millwall, Middlesbrough and Leeds treble to 5.12/1.

  • But you can eke out a little bit more value by taking Leeds to win and 3+ goals in the match at 10/11. So stick that in with Middlesbrough and Millwall to win and that boosts the treble to 7.66/1.

  • A reminder, I fancy Bristol City at 2/1 to win their match against Hull City.

  • And take Emmanuel Latte Lath to score anytime for Middlesbrough - he's 13/8 to find the back of the net.

Gamble responsibly everybody. Enjoy this weekend's football. I'll see you again next week.
