With no Premier League matches this weekend, James Buttler turns his attention to the German Bundesliga and shares a regular bet he always plays.
Goals in the German Bundesliga
This is a bet that I play and there's two ways in, that I always have the same stake on every single week. I'm usually ahead by the end of the season. So it is a campaign, it's a project, rather than expecting glory every single weekend.
If you look across the major leagues in the main European countries, in Spanish La Liga 49% of matches go over 2.5 match goals, 52% in Italian Serie A, 55% in French League 1, 59% in the English Premier League, the Scottish Premiership is 61%, but 62% of matches in Germany go over 2.5 goals.
Over 2.5 Acca
So, if you play the over 2.5 acca in the 2.30 pm matches on a Saturday afternoon, you've got every chance and you get a very good price. Last season, I was very much in profit come the end of the season.
So far this season, it's landed in one week of 15. When I tell you the price for this coming weekend is 15.12/1, then I've not lost any money. And I think it's going to happen regularly as we go through the remainder of this season.
Over 0.5 1st Half Acca
The other way that I play is over 0.5 first half goals. We've had more of a frequency of that so far this season. In seven of the 15 weeks that the Bundesliga has been playing so far, over 0.5 first half goals across the board of the four or five matches played in the 2.30 kickoffs has landed. The price for it this weekend is 3.2/1.
You probably can shop around and get a little bit better depending on which bookies you look at. As I say, it's landed in pretty much half of the weeks played so we're already ahead in that one.
It's a Bundesliga marathon and not a sprint
As I say, I play this as a project. If you add the stats to the performance and the return you get, a Bundesliga Saturday afternoon bet of over 0.5 first half goals at 3.2/1 and over 2.5 across the board this weekend at 15.12/1. It's worth a little bit of a look.
