Home Advantage to win out in the Champions League on Tuesday?

Al Ross

The acca price may be small, so Al Ross tries to pick some other higher-priced gems as he narrowly avoids backing the home Grand Slam of wins on Tuesday.

BAYERN MUNICH v CELTIC It’s not often I’ll bite your hand off at a 2/11 shot in the knockout stages of the Champions League, but BetFred have that price for Bayern Munich to beat Celtic and it’s the cornerstone of my acca. Bayern got a goalless draw from Leverkusen at the weekend, - the first time they failed to attempt a shot on target in a Bundesliga match since 2008 – but don’t read into that. A draw at the team in 2nd just cements their dominance at the top in Germany.

Back at the Allianz, Bayern are a juggernaut, and with a first leg lead, Celtic will have to be expansive and will surely get picked off. It’s 7 home wins in a row for the German side. 36 goals in that time, that’s almost 6 per game on average. Bayern Munich to win and over 3.5 goals is 10/11 with Bet365.

Harry Kane has more goals than appearances this season – and with 4 in his last 2 games at home, he’s worth backing at 9/4 to score more than once here too.

  ATALANTA v CLUB BRUGES

In the Atalanta v Club Bruges match, Atalanta can’t be backed at their skinny odds, but Both Teams to Score can at 3/4 with VBet. Both teams were able to shut out Sturm Graz in the group phase, otherwise Both Teams to Score would have landed in both clubs' last 5 in the Champions League, plus 6 of Club Bruges' last 7 in all competitions – and 15 of their last 20. So 3/4 is a good price.

AC MILAN v FEYENOORD

Coral’s 10/21 is the best price I can find on AC Milan beating Feynoord, but that’s going into any Tuesday acca. Feyenoord are a goal up from the first leg but have been racked by injuries in recent weeks, and are going to one of the hardest places to win in European football right now. Feyenoord are 4 wins in 5 on their home turf, but no wins - 3 defeats and 2 draws from their last 5 away – they’re not good travellers at the best of times.

Milan were slaughtered in the press for their performance in losing the first leg, and with their 12-match home unbeaten run, I’m not expecting lightning to strike twice.

BENFICA V MONACO

It's been 18 games since Benfica lost at home to a French side, and it certainly doesn’t look like that run’s going to be ended here by Monaco. Unless you include a Cup Win at provincial side Union St John, Monaco are incapable of getting anything on the road at the moment. 2 draws and 7 defeats in their last 10. And with several players missing – including Al Musrati's who was sent off in Benfica’s first leg 1-0 win – I don’t see anything for Monaco here. 5/6 on Benfica with QuinnBet is the best value single outright bet of the day. Vangelis Pavlidis has eight in his last seven games in all competitions and was saved to keep him fresh on Saturday – only coming on as a second half sub as Benfica made it 5 wins in a row. At 23/20, he’s my favourite goalscorer shout in any of Tuesday’s Champions League games. My NAP is Benfica at 5/6 The Acca is a modest 4.3/1, best price with Coral.
