Gavin Puszczalowskyi is taking a look at matchday 3 in League 2.
Colchester is where we are starting this weekend. Generally, odds on everywhere to win at home to Harrogate but EVS at Ladbrokes. Tempting. They have played 2, won 1, lost one, but scored 2 goals in both games, and lead 2-0 in both games. And I am not sure about Harrogate this season. The impetus and momentum of getting into the league has fizzled out and the grind to keep punching to stay in the league has well and truly begun.
In the previous 8 league meetings, there have been zero draws, with over 2.5 goals landing in 6 of them. Jack Payne, new signing, to join the army of strikers that Colchester have, has already scored and I think will do well for Colchester. I’m expecting these side to have very different seasons. One towards the top, one towards the bottom. I am tipping Colchester and over 2.5 goals at 2/1 at Bet MGM
Sparkling Spireites
Chesterfield are on a charge and hammered Crewe 5-0 last weekend. They are at home to a Salford side who appear to have zero momentum and zero goals. Played 4 games this season and still have not scored. You would have thought with their big-name owners, the documentary, and publicity that Salford would not rest, Wrexham style, until they matched the loft ambitions of the owners, but this appears to not be the case. It is the Spireites with all the goals, and the momentum and I’m fully expecting them to take all 3 points at the weekend. Chesterfield are odds on to win, so let’s dig for more value.
This is a bit of a gamble, but it’s based on facts. Salford concede more goals at home than away, and Chesterfield score more goals away than home, so this could be tighter than you think. Chesterfield to win by a goal is 11/4 at Bet365, I’m thinking 1-0, but 2-1, 3-2, 4-3, I don’t care as long as it lands.
Goals, goals, and more goals
And if one team typifies the unpredictable nature of League 2, it is Newport. Lost away at Cheltenham, conceding 3 goals to then destroy Doncaster, who I fancy to achieve promotion, and scoring 3 goals.
Newport play Accrington this weekend and this stinks of goals. All 3 games for Newport this season have been over 3.5 goals. Accrington's last 5 games have had a total of 25 goals in them.
Over 3.5 goals is 2.75/1 at Bet365. Worth a play.
So I fancy Colchester to win and over 2.5 goals at 2/1, Chesterfield to win by a goal at 11.4 and over 3.5 goals between Newport and Accrington at 2.75/1. That works out at around 40/1. The best of luck and always gamble responsibly
