Gavin Puszczalowskyi looks at the 2 games in League 2 on Saturday.
Due to it being Round 2 of the FA Cup, there are only 2 games from League 2 taking place on Saturday afternoon.
We will start with Carlisle at home to Crewe. Bottom at home to 3rd. Carlisle are unbeaten in their last 3 games, which is their longest unbeaten run since April 2023. It has been a tough couple of seasons for Carlisle, and they face a Crewe side who have only lost 2 of their last 8 away games.
Crewe are my pick to win this one, 8/5 at Betfred but the one thing that scares me a little is the draw. Crewe don't lose often on their travels but they have drawn 3 of their last 4 away games, all 1-1.
But if you are looking to get promoted from League 2, and you wish to close the gap on the league leader, Port Vale, who Crewe drew with on TV last week, you have to win at the worst side in the league.
Carlisle have lost 5 of their 8 home games this season, only Morecambe have a worse home record this season. Crewe, 8/5 to win is my pick.
The second game is Fleetwood at home to Colchester. If I was tempted by the draw in the Carlisle Crewe game, I am definitely tempted by the draw in this one.
Colchester have drawn 5 of their 8 away games with Fleetwood drawing 4 of their 7 home games. Colchester have actually drawn 3 of their last on the travels, which must be frustrating for Colchester fans because they have lost 2 of the last 3 at home. So if you wish to see Colchester pick up points, you have to jump in the car and travel for hours to see them do so.
Add to the mix that Fleetwood have actually drawn 6 of 9 home games, this has a draw written all over it.
Ronan Coughlan for Fleetwood has 2 in his last 2 home games, he is a anytime scorer play at 11/5 at Bet365.
But it is the draw for me between Fleetwood and Colchester, 27/10 at Coral.
Oh, it's the first meeting between these 2 sides since 2016. The result last time they played? a 1-1 draw.
Enjoy the football and please game responsibly.
