Plenty of derby action and managerial turnarounds in League One this week, so what will the weekend in the third tier have in store? David Easson has the League One Betting preview
Mansfield v Huddersfield
Huddersfield have got themselves back into automatic contention with a winning streak that is almost as hot as they’re dreadful run just after the start of the season. They have a plan, they can score goals and they have worked out how not to get beaten, particularly on the road.
The Terriers are 8 without defeat and go to a Mansfield side who are 7 without a clean sheet and 5 without a win.
Take the terriers at 6/5 away at Mansfield
Wycombe v Reading
To what I see as the big game of the day. Wycombe v Reading is a derby and the Chairboys are flying high at the top of the table. They have lost one match in 21 and that was against Aston Villa.
Reading have scored in their last 12 and are still very much in the promotion hunt BUT at the time of writing it looks like Ruben Selles is off to manage Hull. What effect will that have on the Royals? Will it galvanise them, or is it just the right time for Wycombe to grab a derby win after their 11-match winning streak came to an end with a midweek draw?
Reading have scored in their last 12 games, Wycombe have scored in every game this season, and are the side in the league with the highest percentage of games going over 2.5 goals.
Wycombe and over 2.5 is the shout at 11/8
Northampton v Peterborough
Speaking of sides who love a bit of over 2.5 goals, it’s Peterborough v Northampton in the Nene derby – another derby where one of the sides has lost their manager. Bottom side Northampton parted company with Jon Brady after going 6 games without a win.
Peterborough have seen 12 of their 17 games go over 2.5 goals this season and Posh have a great record in this derby so it’s Peterborough and overs on the goals in this one for me, mainly because they'll be stinging from the midweek home defeat to Burton.
You’ll have to wait until Monday for the final leg of the treble which is 7/4
And that’s a 13/1 treble
