David Easson has a look at a League One betting treble for Saturday as two old rivals face each other for the first time in over five years.
It’s been an entertaining first few weeks in league one. Some have gone off like a train (Huddersfield) while others are yet to leave the station (I’m look at you, Wigan Athletic).
Lincoln City v Mansfield
I’m starting with a derby of sorts that hasn’t been played for over five years as Mansfield take the short and very flat trip to Lincoln.
This has been both teams to score in 13 of the last 14 meetings and in both games so far both sides have seen games with both scoring and the match going over 2.5 goals.
Mansfield showed some real grit in coming back twice to draw 3-3 with Burton last weekend. The week before Lincoln left it late to beat the Brewers 3-2. Over 2.5 goals and both to score in Lincoln v Mansfield is 11/10.
Leyton Orient v Birmingham City
A more simple price is the 10/11 on Birmingham getting a win at Leyton Orient. The draw v Reading wasn’t great but the Royals have now made a strong start and the Blues late win at Wycombe will calm a few nerves and show the goals can flow.
Orient held out for a long time in the derby with Charlton but it wasn’t enough and that may be the story of their season.
Huddersfield v Shrewsbury
Similarly Shrewsbury look out of their depth at this level already unless they can sort themselves out soon and a trip to straight-out-the-traps Huddersfield does not look enticing. The Terriers only conceded late in a very comfortable home win over Stevenage and another home game against a side who shipped 4 last week against Peterborough should equal a home win and over 2.5 goals.
Dave's League One Treble
Over 2.5 goals and both to score in Lincoln v Mansfield at 11/10
Birmingham to win at Leyton Orient 10/11
Huddersfield to beat Shrewsbury and over 2.5 goals is 6/5
A 7.82/1 treble.
