League One Betting Preview: Saturday's Matches

David Easson delves into League One to find the Saturday value

Blackpool v Stevenage

211224 L1 Blackpool v Stevenage PreviewDavid Easson

Steve Bruce seems to have Blackpool playing. They're certainly winning, but they're doing it away from home. Fixture list quirks have given the Tangerines 3 away games in a row but they've only gone and won them all, conceding just one goal in that time.

They have to start turning draws into wins at home. Only 10 points have been recorded at Bloomfield Road in eight matches, with Blackpool without a win in front of their own supporters since September 28.

They face a Stevenage side with one away win since last January. They don't score away from home and they certainly don't win - but they do pick up points.

After draws versus Reading and Leyton Orient, wins were posted against Northampton Town and Stockport County respectively. Stevenage have conceded just two goals across those four games.

That leads me to the draw at a decent 12/5

Bristol Rovers v Wrexham

211224 Bristol v Wrexham L1 PreviewDavid Easson

Wrexham are the meanest defence in League One, and they're going at just over two points per game. That's a recipe for automatic promotion and this could be the ideal early Christmas present as they go to a Bristol Rovers side in more than a bit of flux. They've lost their manager in Matt Taylor and one of the main reasons he seems to have gone is the "club appointment" of Lee Cattermole as a coach. the two had never met. Nothing like a bit of boardroom interference. The other reason is clearly results!

Rovers have won only six out of 19 league games this season and the 2-0 defeat by Birmingham was their third straight loss, leaving them 20th in the table.

In all competitions they're 4 games without a single goal.

A Wrexham win is even money but a Wrexham to win to nil is 23/10

Barnsley v Leyton Orient

211224 Barnsley v Orient PreviewDavid Easson

There are signs of life at Leyton Orient. One defeat in 10 in all competitions and they are on the up. They go to Barnsley who are almost that in reverse. The win at Exeter was their first in seven matches, but that can't be seen as a change of fortune just yet. They've won 2 home games in the last 17!

Barnsley sit just off the playoff places but they're down in 20th in the home form league table.

3/1 is just too big for a team in form - and a team in far better form than the side they're facing. 17/20 on the double chance is worth adding to an acca but the 3/1 is a stand out for me.
