And so it begins. Plenty of teams have plenty of hopes and dreams for this season in League One and the only thing we’re really sure of is that it’s an absolute pain of a division to get out off.

David Easson looks ahead to the first day of what looks like an action-packed League One season.

However, there are some things you can rely on in football and one of them is goals at London Road. Huddersfield go to Peterborough looking and feeling battered by the last few years and it could take them a while to get used to this level once again. Posh fans demand goals, they usually go in at both ends but they should be in the mix at the end of the season again and I think they’ll start off well on day one. Posh and over 2.5 goals is 9/4

Rotherham drop down a division with much more of a boost with Steve Evans returning to the Millers. The honeymoon period starts at Exeter and he’s packed his squad with players who have promotion experience in League One. The Millers to start fast and get a win on the road is 13/10

Finally it’s to the hot tip for the division with Birmingham City at home to Reading. They are the big spending, massive favourites for the league title and they should get off to a decent start at home to a Reading side who narrowly avoided disaster last year but seem to be heading only one way as the seasons go by with ownership issues dragging them down and down. It’s the perfect start for the Blues and I’ll take them to win this with over 2.5 goals in the game.

  • Peterborough v Huddersfield – Posh and over 2.5 goals 9/4

  • Exeter v Rotherham – Rotherham to win 13/10

  • Birmingham v Reading – Birmingham to win and over 2.5 goals at 11/8

That’s a treble of 16.75/1
