League One Preview: Shrewsbury v Wrexham

It's always tempting to leap on the Welsh side, especially when facing a side in the bottom 3 but is this less simple than it looks? David Easson has Thursday's League One preview.

It's tight at the top of League One and you can already feel the pressure building well before any spring flowers have started appearing. Birmingham may well have it in them to pull away (as they should having spent all that money last Summer) but for Wrexham there were no real pre-season expectations that the show could roll on to the Championship. However, now the top four are all running at an average of 2 points a game, why can't any of them go up?

Wrexham have been going at 2 points per game mainly due to winning at home and drawing away - that's how you do it isn't it? - and their away form points to this being a short but tough trip south to Shrewsbury. The Shrews have 17 points but 6 of them have come in the last 5 games.

The hosts have scored in all bar one of their last six league games and Wrexham have only kept one clean sheet in their last six. Wrexham have only won 2 of their last 9 away games in League One. They are not to be trusted away from the racecourse. They have won 3 of their last 4 but all at home. The other game was away at Barnsley, who've been awful at home. They beat Wrexham though.

Wrexham and both teams to score is 15/4, both to score is evens.

Wrexham are good enough to beat Shrewsbury, but Shrewsbury are able to trip them up. Give them at least a goal and while this might not be a glorious watch, it's one to keep an eye on in-play.
