Dave Tindall looks at Sunday afternoon's Premier League showdown between the two bitter rivals and has three bets for the clash at Anfield.
This is traditionally a huge encounter but another way of looking at it is 1st plays 14th. Liverpool’s haul of 45 points is over double that of United’s and Arne Slot’s men even have a game in hand!
Liverpool memorably won this fixture 7-0 a couple of seasons ago and some were predicting a repeat last term but United dug in and held out for a 0-0 draw.
So could the Manchester men scupper the Merseysiders again this time?
Well, that looks fairly unlikely and some United supporters are predicting some ridiculous scorelines. A repeat of that 7-0 by the way is 150/1. Tempted?!
Liverpool hit Spurs for six and West Ham for five over the Festive period but they haven’t actually scored more than three in a home Premier League game at Anfield this season.
Slot’s side beat - let’s call it outclassed - United 3-0 at Old Trafford back in September and that may be a more realistic scoreline as United, believe it or not, have conceded fewer goals on the road than Liverpool.
That 3-0 is a 9/1 chance.
Luis Diaz scored twice against United at Old Trafford and I’ll back him to get on the scoresheet at 7/4.
Finally, Harry Maguire has been booked in three of his last six away games for United so, given that strike-rate, he looks a good bet to receive a card at 13/5.
The visitors will have an awful lot of defending to do and Maguire may find Mo Salah, Diaz and co. far too slippery.
Dave's Best Bets
Liverpool to beat Man Utd 3-0 at 9/1
Luis Diaz to score anytime at 7/4
Harry Maguire to be shown a card at 13/5
Enjoy Sunday’s game, good luck with your bets and please do gamble responsibly
