Sprint Race Winner
At this very early stage of the season when you are trying to pick a winner of the main race, or right now, the Sprint Race, it is going to be dominated by McLaren who simply have the best car on the grid.
When they opened up and stretched their legs last week in Australia, they pulled clear of everyone, Max Verstappen included. Quite simple, McLaren have got a car that looks after it's tyres better than another other manufacterer so it can push longer and harder on the rubber.
Therefore, Norris and Piastri is the tip to win the 19 lap Sprint Race on Saturday. Lando Norris is EVS to win in most places whereas team mate, Piastri, is 7/2 at BetFred and as a price play, that is worth a punt.
Main Race Winner.
Like the Sprint Race, where the tip was McLaren to win, it is exactly the same with the main race. Whoever has the best car at the very start of the F1 season is the team to back to dominate for the first few races before every other team can upgrade their car and be more competitive, just as McLaren did to Red Bull last season.
So McLaren it is, but also like the Sprint Race, Lando Norris is the firm favs to win but Oscar Piastri, in the same car, is a much bigger price. So split stakes, yes to Lando at 6/5 to win but also yes to Piastri winning at a big 4/1.
Top 10 Finish.
Our tip to finish in the Top 10 in Australia didn't start too well as the person we picked, Isack Hadjar, crashed his Racing Bull on the formation lap in the rain. Up to that point, it had been a solid weekend for the rookie who set some good times in practice and qualified 11th.
Hadjar has enormous potential and one bad race, formation lap, doesn't make him a bad driver overnight. If the Racing Bulls can show their pace in Shanghai, and Hadjar can keep it on the road and make a mends for the nightmare a week ago, we think the 6/1 at Bet365 for him to finish in the points, in the top 10, is a play.
