The big derby for Port Vale is Stoke, the Potteries Derby, but they haven't played each other for 22 years so this the one for both Port Vale and Crewe. Just 13 miles between the two clubs and they are quite close both in the league and the current form table. They have played each other in a couple of cup competitions over the last couple of years but this is the first league meeting between the 2 in 5 years.

In the league, it is 1st at home to 5th, just 5 points between them, and 2nd at home to 4th in the current form guide. This could be a cracking game.

Having said that, if you want goals, this may not be the game for you. When you play your arch rival, your local noisy neighbours, it is all about the result. If you get the win and the result, great, but if you get the result but not the performance in a scrappy game, who cares? You got the result.

In the last 5 head-to-head meetings, there have been a total of 4 goals. And Port Vale have won 4 of those 5, but Port Vale are odds on and that is not tempting me. If you're backing them then do look at unders. Port Vale and under 2.5 goals is 13/5 at BetGoodwin.

I think it will be tight, and with nothing to separate the two teams, I'm going for the draw.

4 of the last 5 meetings have been 0-0 at half time, and that is something I will play. A draw at half time is 21/20, and 0-0 correct score at HT is 33/20. And this leads naturally to the highest scoring half, 2nd half, 23/20 at Ladbrokes being a selection too.

And with it being a derby game, and a top of the table one too, I'm looking at cards. There were 5 yellows and a sending off last time these teams met, and Thomas Kirk, the ref, dished out 7 yellows in his last game, Stockport v Wrexham. I'll have a little play on over 6 cards at 11/5 at William Hill.

Good luck with your bets and please gamble responsibly.
