Dave Tindall looks ahead to Sunday's Premier League action and picks out the best bets from all four games including Liverpool v Manchester City.
Liverpool v Man City
There’s only one place to start and that’s Anfield where Liverpool can go a whopping 11 points above Manchester City if they take down Pep Guardiola’s struggling side.
The Reds are in a stunning run of form with 14 wins and a draw in their last 15 games in all competitions and one of their very best performances in that run came on Wednesday night when they deservedly beat Real Madrid 2-0.
The night before City had blown a 3-0 lead at home to Feyenoord, showing their current vulnerabilities in a disastrous end to the match.
City look punch drunk at the moment and that draw against Feyenoord came on the back of five straight defeats, three of those in the Premier League.
On reputation, City pull something out of the bag here as that’s what they do.
But all logic screams a Liverpool win and the odds-against prices on a Reds victory surely have to be snapped up.
Liverpool have a great record in this fixture at Anfield anyway but, on current form, we’re entitled to think they could win this with something in hand.
So let’s take the 11/10 about a home win but also have a little on Liverpool to win by an exact two-goal margin at 5/1.
Arne Slot’s men have won four of their 10 Anfield outings this season by that required two-goal margin and it’s a result which seems fairly reflective of their play - they aren’t as open as they were under Jurgen Klopp and getting two goals clear pretty much kills a game off.
As for goalscorers, the 8/5 about Mo Salah finding the net is definitely worth a play. He’s scored 11 times in 21 appearances against City so the numbers are in our favour.
Chelsea v Aston Villa
Aston Villa are stuttering although were rather unlucky not to beat Juventus in the Champions League on Wednesday night.
But this is a tough test against a Chelsea side who are finding the winning habit as shown by 10 wins from their last 15 in all competitions.
However, Villa have won their last two Premier League meetings at Stamford Bridge and Chelsea have won 13 of their 22 points on the road this season.
A draw here looks the value at 3/1.
Tottenham v Fulham
After stunning Manchester City 4-0 at the Etihad last week, the ups-and-downs of being a Tottenham fan means they’re bracing themselves to slide on this particular banana skin and lose at home to London derby rivals Fulham.
Although we associate Spurs with wild inconsistency, they did win five in a row in all comps across September into October although shipping a last-minute equaliser at home to Roma on Thursday was another kick.
Fulham were clobbered 4-1 at home by Wolves last time but are decent enough on the road and, in fact, are a pretty decent side all told.
I’m a little wary of the outright market so will head to a side market and back the very in-form Dejan Kulusevski to set one up, just as did against Roma on Thursday.
The Swede is 5/2 to register an assist here.
Man Utd v Everton
A home game with Everton should give Ruben Amorim a chance to make it two home wins out of two after Manchester United beat Bodo/Glimt in the Europa League on Thursday.
United are still coming to terms with his tactical requirements and the Portuguese boss is still learning about the hand he’s been dealt since taking over from Erik ten Hag but they should have enough in this one.
United have won their last five games against Everton with an aggregate of 7-1 in the last three at Old Trafford.
The basic win price of 8/15 isn’t very sexy so let’s try the 5/2 about Rasmus Hojlund scoring in a United win at 5/2.
The Dane scored twice against Bodo/Glimt so perhaps he’s about to go on a similar run to last season when he netted in six straight games.
Dave's Premier League Tips
Liverpool to beat Man City at 11/10
Liverpool to win by a two-goal margin at 5/1
Mo Salah to score at 8/5
Chelsea and Aston Villa to draw at 3/1
Dejan Kulusevski to assist v Fulham at 5/2
Rasmus Hojlund to score in a Man Utd win v Everton at 5/2
