After landing a 36/1 treble the last round of Premier League matches, James Buttler looks ahead to Tuesday's matches and picks out a 15/1 treble.
Chelsea v Bournemouth
Chelsea beat Morecambe 5-0 in the FA Cup third round, and they host a Bournemouth side that eliminated West Brom 5-1. In the Premier League, Enzo Maresca’s side are experiencing a bit of a blip with no win in four games. That’s seen their somewhat surprising title bid wane a tad and they recommence league action in fourth.
Bournemouth are unbeaten in eight league matches, five wins and three draws in that period, and are now only three points behind their hosts, in seventh. The three draws came against London sides and Chelsea have beaten Bournemouth in four of the last five H2Hs, but there is genuine and warranted belief in Andoni Iraola’s team and they’ll arrive at Stamford Bridge without any fear.
Bournemouth have scored at least twice in their last five away trips and this is the way in for me. I’m not confident who will take the points in this one, but Bournemouth’s ability to find the net can be statistically trusted and over 1.5 goals for the away side is a decent 9/5 with William Hill.
Brentford v Manchester City
Are Man City back? It would appear so. After only one win in 13 matches in all competitions, Pep Guardiola’s team have found their strut once more with three successive victories. The last was an 8-0 thumping of Salford City in the FA Cup and the other two came against Leicester City and West Ham, so you could argue their resurgence hasn’t been properly tested just yet. Brentford at home is a genuine measure of City’s rehabilitation.
The Bees won seven and drew one of their first eight at home in the league, but that form has vanished. Forest and Arsenal have taken wins since and struggling Plymouth took a 1-0 win at the Gtech Community Stadium in the FA Cup.
It looks like City have picked a good time to play at Brentford and the 4/6 on the visitors to take all three points looks a standout component of an acca. You could get more adventurous and take City HT and City FT at 13/8, and that is my pick.
Nottingham Forest v Liverpool
Forest are putting together a remarkable season. In third, ahead of the visit of leaders Liverpool, they are six wins on the bounce in the league. It’s actually seven in their last eight to take themselves six points behind Arne Slot’s team.
If Forest are going to maintain their unlikely title tilt, a win would be a must, but they take on a team that is 15 league matches unbeaten. But the last team to get the better of Liverpool in the league was …….. Nottingham Forest, who won 1-0 at Anfield in mid-September.
The bookies have Liverpool at 8/11 and, let’s be honest, that would be no surprise. But Nuno Espírito Santo has Forest incredibly well organised, they’ll be fine with Liverpool having more of the ball, and they’ll look to break at pace. Forest on the double chance market, basically not to lose, is not the daftest punt at Boyle Sports at 6/5. That’s the one going into my Tuesday treble.
