Stockport Look to Leapfrog Wrexham on Night When Birmingham Can Streak Clear in League One

Updated: Feb 10

David Easson has the League One betting preview for a midweek set of fixtures that can only leave Ryan Reynolds' Reds watching on as they play in the EFL Trophy

Wrexham Woes Betting Radio

The Top of League One has been dominated by Birmingham all season and with their heroic defeat against Newcastle behind them, they can concentrate on demolishing the rest of the league now, and they probably will.

Behind them it's really anyone's guess.

Four points behind the leaders are Wycombe, but they've played 2 games more. Wrexham sit a further 4 points behind them with Birmingham only best price 3/10 to extend those gaps by another 3 points against Cambridge. Put that banker in any acca.

The rest of the playoff contenders are led by Stockport. 5 wins on the spin, looking great again and hurtling towards the automatic places. A win at Bristol Rovers takes them into 3rd place over Wrexham. The Hatters have sorted out their away form since back to back losses on the road in December to Stevenage and Huddersfield. The win at Leyton Orient was a marker. They mean business. Bristol Rovers have won their last 2 home games by three goals to one over both Barnsley and Peterborough but Stockport are a different matter and I think they make it six on the spin at 5/6

No midweek game for struggling Huddersfield so the battle to make it into the playoffs heads to Charlton, where Peterborough are the visitors. With one win in ten The Posh are now teetering above the drop zone and Charlton's miserly home defence should offer them very little in the way of hope. They're conceded 2 goals in the last seven games at the Valley and have kept 4 clean sheets in a row at home. Peterborough have conceded 13 goals in their last 5. The bet still has to be Charlton to win to nil at 12/5.

Finally I cannot leave this preview without backing Leyton Orient. Fresh from scaring City in the cup - I told you they would - they are back in action in the league hoping the home defeat by Stockport was just a blip with eyes on City. I think it was and who better to come up against than Mansfield Town, in freefall under Nigel Clough. Six defeats in a row in all competitions and ready to make it seven.

19/20 seems great value on a side who may well have put everything into their cup game but they should still have enough to get back winning here. Up the O's.
