Which football teams do the biggest bands in music support?

We know these bands for selling millions of records and for their sell-out stadium tours, but do you know which football teams they support?

Blur

Formed in London in 1988, and the winners of the "Battle of Britpop" where they took on, and beat, Oasis, with Country House toppling Roll With It. But which teams do the members of the 4-piece band support?

A Google image search of lead singer, Damon Albarn, will show many pictures of him playing football or wearing a football jersey. He is a big fan of Chelsea.

Guitarist, Graham Coxon, is a Derby County fan after living for some time in Derby. It is not known which team bassist, Alex James, supports. He was reported to be a talented footballer in his younger days and according to online reports, people claim he is a fan of Fulham. It is also reported Alex James once declared to be a fan of Bournemouth when making a guest appearance on Soccer AM.

What we do know is he loves making cheese and helped create one of the catchiest football songs of all time. "Vindaloo" by Fat Les, a trio consisting of the artist, Damien Hirst, actor Keith Allen, and Alex James.

The fourth member of the band, drummer, Dave Rowntree, has no reported interest in football.

FACT: In 1996, Damon Albarn played in a charity football match against Liam Gallagher in London. Blur won the match 2-0.

Led Zeppelin

Formed in London, in 1968, Led Zeppelin are estimated to have sold over 300 million record world wide. But who are the football teams the original band members support?

Unlike The Arctic Monkeys, or Oasis, where all the band members have a love of football, it would appear that three of the original line-up, Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones, and John Bonham, had no interest in football.

However, Robert Plant, the former lead singer, is a lifelong fan of Wolves, having being born in the West Midlands. He fell in love with Wolves having watched them for the first time aged 5.

Plant also has a soft sport for League 2 side, Accrington Stanley, and had a tour of their ground in 2024.

FACT: Led Zeppelin songs "Stairway to Heaven", "Kashmir", and "Whole Lotta Love" are often played before Wolves matches at Molineux.

Kasabian

Having formed in Leicester in 1997, it is well known that co-founder, guitarist, and now lead vocalist, Serge Pizzorno, is a big football fan having made numerous appearances on Soccer AM and playing in Soccer Aid.

Serge is reported to originally have been a fan of Genoa, his Italian grandfather moved from Genoa to Leicester, but it is common knowledge that Serge is now a huge fan of Leicester City.

Original lead-singer, Tom Meighan, is also a fan of the Foxes.

For reasons unknown, bassist, Chris Edwards, is a fan of Leeds United.

It appears that original guitarist, Chris Karloff, and drummer, Ian Matthews, have no interest in football.

FACT: Kasabian played 2 huge concerts at the home of Leicester City, the King Power Stadium, in 2016.

Kaiser Chiefs

Named after the football team in South Africa, Kaizer Chiefs, the first club of former Leeds United player, Lucas Radebe, it's fair to say that the members of Kaiser Chiefs are fans of the beautiful game.

With all the original members born local to West Yorkshire, and Leeds, their allegiance is to Leeds United. Hence the reason for the naming of the band and the connection to Lucas Radebe.

Lead singer, Ricky Wilson, born near Leeds is a die-hard Leeds United fan. Bassist, Simon Rix, is not just a Leeds United fan but a regular pundit on Leeds podcast and keyboardist Nick "Peanut" Baines, is also a fan of the whites.

It is not known if the Chiefs' original drummer, Nick Hodgson, is a football fan.

FACT: Leeds United play the Kaiser Chiefs hit song, "I Predict a Riot" when victorious at Elland Road

Def Leppard

Formed in Sheffield, it is common knowledge that lead singer, Joe Elliott, is a big fan of Sheffield United. But what about the other members of the band?

Bass player, Rick Savage, is a fan of United's arch rivals, Sheffield Wednesday, but before pursuing a career in music, Rick was a promising player in his youth and played for Sheffield United in his teens.

Original guitarist, and song writer, Steve Clark, who died in 1991, was also a fan of Sheffield Wednesday. Vivian Campbell joined the band as Steve's replacement. It is not known which team Vivian supports but he does play football for Hollywood United FC, a celebrity football team based in California.

Phil Collen, co-lead guitarist, joined the band in 1982. He was born in London and is a fan of West Ham United. It is unknown who drummer, Rick Allen, supports or if he has an interest in football.
