We take a look at which football teams the biggest musical acts, past and present, support.

We take a look at Oasis, The Rolling Stones, The Arctic Monkeys, Sam Fender, and Coldplay

Oasis:

It is well known, and well documented, that both Noel and Liam Gallagher are big fans of Man City.

But what about the other original members of the band from Manchester?

Bass guitarist, Paul "Guigsy" McGuigan, is also a Man City fan while Paul "Bonehead" Arthurs, and original drummer, Tony McCarroll are fans of Manchester United.

FACT: The band's initial lineup McCarroll, Arthurs, McGuigan, and Liam Gallagher, all used to play football together.

The Rolling Stones:

It is known that the aging rockers are fans of football with Mick Jagger pictured numerous times at football games around the world. But who do they support?

A Google search will tell you that the band all support Barcelona, but it is known that Mick Jagger is a big fan of Arsenal, which made for good banter with Charlie Watts, the original drummer, who was a fan of arch rivals, Spurs.

Ronnie Wood is a fan of Championship side, West Bromwich Albion, the team his brothers supported, and Keith Richards, who is a fan of baseball, and cricket, follows the fortunes of Liverpool and QPR in the Championship.

FACT: The Rolling Stones had their iconic "hot lips" logo on the shirts of FC Barcelona for an El Clasico match against Real Madrid in 2023.

The Arctic Monkeys:

Unlike Oasis, who have split loyalties with the teams they support, there is no such divide in the 4-piece from Sheffield.

Alex Turner, Jamie Cook, Matt Helders and Nick O'Malley are all from High Green, a suburb to the north of Sheffield. They all support Sheffield Wednesday.

FACT: Flea, the bassist for American rock band, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, is a fan of Wednesday rivals, Sheffield United.

Sam Fender:

The singer-song writer was born in North Shields, 8 miles to the east of Newcastle. He is, therefore, a big Newcastle United fan, and has been pictured many times in the famous black and white of the Geordie Boys.

FACT: Sam Fender is performing 2 headline gigs at St James' Park in 2025.

Coldplay:

One of the biggest bands of recent times, known for hits such as Yellow, Viva La Vida, and Paradise, but it is less known which teams the guys support.

Drummer, Will Champion, supports Southampton, having being born in the city. Guitarist, Jonny Buckland, is a life long supporter of Spurs. Bassist, Guy Berryman, was born in the Scottish town of Kirkcaldy and is a fan of the local team, Raith Rovers.

As for Chris Martin, he was born in Exeter but it is not known if he is a fan of Exeter City. He did once sing a tribute song to Luton Town in 2024 at Radio 1's Big Weekend.

FACT: Coldplay have recently covered The Proclaimers song "Sunshine on Leith" Chris Martin was inspired to sing the song after watching the fans of Hibs singing the song on YouTube.
