Afternoon Session

The afternoon session has four matches, but the one I am most interested in is the match between Wessel Nijman and Cameron Carolissen. I have tipped Wessel to have a big tournament at 33/1, and I have to say the more I look at his quarter, the more confident I feel. As mentioned in my outright preview on the Betting Radio website, he is a young player who throws some big averages. His finishing is where his game lacks, but I feel if he can pull it together, he will go far. Despite Wessel going on a long losing run on the PDC tour, I expect everything to get back on track here. He is 8/11 with Sky Bet to hit the first and last 180. I don’t think Carolissen will get close to the averages of Nijman, and I would be surprised if the South African even gets the chance to put a 180 on the board.

Evening Session

The evening session is the first of which I will be in attendance for. Mighty Michael Van Gerwen headlines the night, but prior to that there is a match between Willie O’Connor and Dylan Slevin. An all-Ireland affair with Willie ranked 48 in the world and Dylan ranked 67. Dylan is a young player with potential and will relish being back on that Ally Pally stage for a second time. Willie O’Connor, however, is an experienced player who has been up on this stage plenty; he’s made the last 32 on two occasions, and he tends to get the crowd on his side with The Cranberries hit song Zombie bellowing round the iconic venue. I can see this being a friendly tie between the two, but I can see it being a tight game and going all the way. The tips in this one are over 4.5 sets at 7/4 with Unibet.

As mentioned, Mighty Michael Van Gerwen is on stage to finish day 6; he faces world number 89 James Hurrell from England, who, despite being 4/1 to win this match, will do all he can to get the North London crowd on his side. If he can shake Van Gerwen, we’d be in for an interesting match. Mighty Mike knows he hasn't been in the best of form this half of the year, but this is always the perfect time to try and rekindle some of that great form. We have already seen that with Gerwen Price this week. All the talk has been about the two Luke’s though, and I know Van Gerwen will want to make a statement on that stage on Friday night. So going to have a small play here on the big one, the 9-darter to be pulled out by Van Gerwen in this match. 28/1 with Sky Bet, and it would be a good way to announce himself as a real contender in this tournament.

Enjoy day six of the World Darts Championships. Do stay tuned for plenty of other sporting previews here on Betting Radio, and as always, do remember to gamble responsibly.
