Welcome back to Betting Radio for the preview of Day 5 of the World Darts Championships.

Afternoon Session

A superb first 4 days of the Championship, and there is still plenty of top-quality action to come from the Alexandra Palace over the Christmas period.

We are back to an afternoon and evening session at the Palace, and the match in the afternoon I am keen to look at is the match between Gabriel Clemens and Robert Owen. Robert Owen pulled off a minor shock in the first round, beating Neils Zonneveld 3-1; the averages weren’t high, but Robert seemed to pull out more when asked against the man from the Netherlands. Gabriel Clemens is the 4/9 favourite with Bet365 to win this match, and you may remember the big German getting all the way to the semifinals a couple of years ago. He has been lukewarm form-wise, though Clemens, and a lot expected him to go on and improve from that semi-final performance a couple of years ago. He has struggled against some of the top players this year but has pulled out the wins against opponents he should be beating. Robert Owen has had experience on the stage, but I think he may just come up short against Clemens. So a 3-1 win for Clemens at 5/2 with Betway will be the bet for me here.

Evening Session

The evening session has two matches that I am looking to get stuck into. The first of which is Mensur Suljovic vs Matt Campbell. Mensur Suljovic is the gentle giant who at one stage was playing some darts where he was close to unplayable. In recent years, though, we haven’t seen the Suljovic of old. He’s lost his last 6 matches on the PDC tour, and he's been beaten by players in the last few months who shouldn’t really be beating Suljovic. He can average close to a 100 in most of his matches, but his finishing game hasn’t quite been all there this season. Matt Campbell has been in similar form and again is a player who looks to be struggling a lot this year. I don’t want to go too much into depth here, but I can see this getting fairly messy as a match, and the over 4.5 sets at 6/4 with Unibet is tempting here.

The final match I am looking at is the Bully Boy Michael Smith vs Kevin Doets of the Netherlands. Michael Smith has possibly the easiest quarter of the draw and should be looking to take advantage of that these next couple of weeks. He may not be the Michael Smith of old, but you know he is going to refind that form at some stage, and I feel it could be here. I am expecting a 3-0 win for Smith here against Doets, but I am going to chance Michael Smith to hit a 170 finish at 14/1 with Sky Bet.

So the chance you can get a treble on here of Clemens to win 3-1 in the afternoon, over 4.5 sets in the Suljovic vs Campbell match, and a 170 finish for Michael Smith. We could be looking at a decent treble there.
