Sam Hart returns to preview Sunday's action at the Alexandra Palace.
Day twelve of the World Darts Championship here on Betting Radio, and Sam Hart here once again to preview the action at the Alexandra Palace.
This is going to be short and sweet today as I am not too overly keen on much in both the afternoon and evening sessions.
Afternoon Session
The afternoon sees some of our final third round matches on the Alexandra Palace stage, but the match I am going to look at is Kevin Doets vs Krzysztof Ratajski. Kevin Doets pulled off one of the big upsets of the tournament in beating Michael Smith in his second round match. Kevin did played some of the darts of his life as he matched Smith's 96 average throughout the match. He looked comfortable on the stage and would now like to think he comes up against an easier opponent on Ratajski. Krzystof won one of the most slow games of darts I’ve ever seen when he beat the Asia number one in Toylo. You could tell Ratajski was frustrated by the pace of the game as he walked up and down the stage behind Toylo, but he kept focused with a 95 average and over 50% checkout on his doubles. It could be a great game and one I’m excited to watch. Over 5.5 sets at 5/11 with Unibet will be the play for me here.
Evening Session
The evening sees Rapid Ricky Evans on stage first to end the third round ties, but then we get into the round of 16 matches where it really starts to heat up. The big match is the final on the card which is Luke Humphries vs Peter Wright. Both players played on Friday night where Humphries looked comfortable in his 4-0 win over Nick Kenny and Peter Wright played some exceptional darts considering he was feeling really under the weather, beating Wattimena 4-2. There’s been some chat at the press conferences from both players and it’s time for them to take to the stage and prove who can walk the walk. Humphries cruised through his match and just looks like he has gears to burn when he needs them on that stage whilst even though he was not feeling 100%, I thought that was some of the best we’ve seen of Peter Wright all year. So in my opinion this could comfortably go the way of Luke Humphries and a 4-1 score line at 9/4 with Betway is the way I’m leaning.
So just the two selections for me on day twelve. It’s a long tournament and there is no need to gamble on every game, and do remember to only gamble with money you can afford to lose. So gamble responsibly, enjoy the sport and I’ll be back again with my day 13 preview shortly.
