Cheltenham Festival 2024 – Day 3 Stayers Hurdle Preview with Sky Sports Racing Presenter Luke Elder
Luke Elder from Sky Sports Racing looking ahead to day three of the Cheltenham Festival in focusing on the main race of the day, that's the Stayers Hurdle.
3 miles the trip for this Grade 1 contest.
Teahupoo is likely to go off favourite. I don't think we've seen the best of this horse yet, but it was very much a career best in my opinion when he beat Impaire Et Passe last time round in the Hattons Grace over at Fairyhouse he has been getting better all season.
Whether he's up to the grade of winning a Stayers Hurdle at the moment, I'm not sure.
We have got Crambo as well to look forward to and he's a horse that there was a fair bit of buzz surrounding him at the start of this season. And he went to Haydock. He was beaten in a handicap there. And then he went to Ascot and got involved in a massive battle with Paisley Park and Dashel Dancer. He came out on top of that. He's a horse very much improving. All the while, he will need to improve once again. But that part is expected.
With Noble Yeats as an ex Grand National winner, he's looking to go back to Aintree and regain his crown was obviously an impressive winner here last time around, when again battling it out with Paisley Park, they were a little clear of strong leader back in 3rd that form again,
I know I'm saying this about quite a few horses. There are so many with a realistic chance but I’m siding with Crambo who could just give Fergal O'Brien that elusive Cheltenham Festival success.
